About Us

The Ocean State Summer Cup was started in 2010. It was set up for high school players to be able to play for their high school coach under game situation, low pressure with a “FUN” stage. Allowing the players a chance to experiment with positions and their individual technique without the “WIN” emphasis. Coaches could experiment with new formations or positions and also see future freshmen in game situations for the first time. Most players and coaches have bought into the idea, and the league has grown every year.

The league is set up by a joint collaboration of RISA, the adult National State Association, and SRI, the Youth National State Association. This allows the players and the field’s insurance coverage, with the league not being part of the individual school systems nor RIIL. All that is necessary, is that each player be a member of some USYS club/association.

At this time the Boys have always played in one division covering 1, 2 and 3 of the RIIL. The Girls have played with 2 divisions, Division 1 and Division 2, with some schools entering two teams, one being a JV or younger team playing in Division 2 with the D2 RIIL teams.
